Live From The Idea Warehouse Tour With a hit Disney Channel series geared towards preschoolers and a newly released Walt Disney Records CD under their belt, the wildly popular kid-pop quartet Imagination Movers will launch “Live From The Idea Warehouse Tour,” their first-ever U.S. concert theater tour! This all-new stage show is based on the hit "Imagination Movers" TV show which airs on Disney Channel's Playhouse Disney. The Imagination Movers began in 2003 when four friends from New Orleans joined forces to make rock and pop music for parents and kids to enjoy together. The Movers have become the soundtrack to many families’ lives thanks to their winning blend of rock ‘n’ roll energy, slapstick comedy and parental wisdom -- all wrapped up in bright blue coveralls! After signing to Walt Disney Records, Imagination Movers released their debut album “Juice Box Heroes” in March 2008. The CD ranked in the Top 10 on iTunes Children’s Music chart. Parenting Magazine awarded it a “Parenting Pick” and Common Sense Media recognized Imagination Movers among the Best TV of 2008, citing the quartet’s “addictive sense of humor and quest for fun.” Their new Walt Disney Records CD, "For Those About to Hop," shipped last month. The album’s smart, high-energy pop was described in The New York Times as “prized by many parents for non-condescending lyrics and music that evokes the Beastie Boys or Red Hot Chili Peppers.” The Imagination Movers are: Rich Collins, a former journalist and father of five; Scott Durbin, a teacher and father of two; Dave Poche, an architect and father of two; and Scott "Smitty" Smith, a New Orleans firefighter who was part of the Hurricane Katrina search and rescue effort. “Imagination Movers" features the blue-suited band – Rich, Scott, Dave and Smitty – as brain-stormers working hard to solve “idea emergencies” in their Idea Warehouse. "Imagination Movers get kids and the folks alike on the floor, moving along to the playful tunes and fresh lyrics. The Movers clearly follow Willy Wonka’s dictum that ‘there is no life ... to compare with pure imagination.’ Their music serves to jump-start the imaginations of the rest of us." - Michael Tisserand, editor, Gambit Weekly and author, The Kingdom of Zydeco. TOY AND FOOD DRIVE The Shubert Theater will be a collection site for non-perishable food items and new, unwrapped toys. Patrons are invited to bring toys and food items to the Shubert Theater when they attend performances through December 20. Donations can also be left in collection bins in the Shubert Lobby during regular box office hours. All food items will donated to the Connecticut Food Bank and the New Haven Fire Department will help distribute toys to New Haven-based family organizations. Even a small donation of a new toy or a can of food can help brighten the holidays for a child and families in need. Children of all ages are permitted, however everyone entering the theater including babes in arms must have a ticket. All prices listed below include a $3 restoration charge.
This event does not have any upcoming performances.
