Elfi Di Bella Appointed Executive Vice President of CAPA

Posted: November 20, 2017

The Columbus Association for the Performing Arts (CAPA) today announced that Elfi Di Bella has been selected to fulfill the position of executive vice president and chief strategy officer. Di Bella served as president and CEO of the YWCA Columbus since 2010, and will begin her new role with CAPA on December 1, 2017.

A non-profit, award-winning presenter of national and international performing arts and entertainment and steward of Columbus’ historic performing arts theatres for nearly 50 years, CAPA also supports the local arts community through its shared services business model, providing back office services to local arts organizations. Di Bella’s responsibilities will focus on executive leadership and developing strategies that will advance CAPA’s goals in all these areas of operation. Prior to joining the YWCA Columbus, Di Bella enjoyed more than 20 years of career success in the financial services sector.

“I am thrilled to be joining CAPA,” stated Di Bella. “The arts have long been a passion of mine, and this is a dream come true. I look forward to applying my 30+ years of business and non- profit experience to support and advance this vibrant arts organization.” The position was created to replace the position held by Chad Whittington prior to his promotion to CAPA president and CEO on August 30, 2017. “Elfi will be an invaluable asset to an already strong and dedicated team here at CAPA,” said Whittington. “Her non-profit expertise, extensive knowledge of the Columbus community, and desire to serve the people of our community make her the right person to help accomplish CAPA’s ambitious vision for the future.”

“With the non-profit leadership experience and expertise Elfi brings to the table, she will be a great asset and strong advocate for CAPA and the Columbus arts community,” remarked Tom Katzenmeyer, president and CEO of the Greater Columbus Arts Council. “We are delighted for CAPA, and look forward to working with Elfi in this new role as we partner together to grow the arts offerings and increase arts accessibility in Columbus.”

Di Bella currently serves as a commissioner for the City of Columbus Relations Commission, as a member of the Otterbein Women’s Leadership Network Advisory Council, as a member of the International Women’s Forum, and as a member of the Columbus Community Trust.

She has received Smart Business’ Progressive Woman Award (2015), the Niagara Foundation’s Commitment Award (2015), the Pillar Award for Nonprofit Executive Director of the Year (2014), recognized as a YWCA “Woman of Achievement” (2009), and the American Red Cross Steckler International Service Award (1999).

Originally from Idar-Oberstein, Germany, Di Bella earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from Franklin University.
