The Columbus Association for the Performing Arts (CAPA) and Broadway in Columbus (BIC) today announced the 2016-17 PNC Broadway in Columbus season. The five-show season boasts four productions never before seen in Columbus including Tony® Award-winning Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella, Disney’s The Little Mermaid, The Bodyguard, and the Tony® and Grammy® Award-winning Beautiful – The Carole King Musical. The 2016-17 lineup also includes a brand new, Tony® Award-winning production of Roundabout Theatre Company’s Cabaret.

In addition to the five-show season package, there will be two 2016-17 season add-on options including STOMP and the 20th anniversary world tour of Riverdance.

Based on the Disney animated film and hit Broadway musical, featuring all of the songs you know and love, and a few new ones by Oscar®-winning composer Alan Menken with lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater, Theatre Under The Stars production of The Little Mermaid is one the whole family will enjoy. Beautiful – The Carole King Musical tells the Tony® and Grammy® Award-winning, inspiring true story of King’s remarkable rise to stardom, from being part of a hit songwriting team with her husband Gerry Goffin to her relationship with fellow writers and best friends Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann to becoming one of the most successful solo acts in popular music history. Along the way, she made more than beautiful music. She wrote the soundtrack to a generation.

STOMP is explosive, provocative, sophisticated, sexy, utterly unique, and appeals to audiences of all ages. The return of the percussive hit also brings some new surprises, with some sections of the show now updated and restructured and the addition of two new full-scale routines, utilizing props like tractor tire inner tubes and paint cans.

The international Irish dance phenomenon is back by popular demand in Riverdance - The 20th Anniversary World Tour. Drawing on Irish traditions, the combined talents of the performers propel Irish dancing and music into the present day, capturing the imagination of audiences across all ages and cultures in an innovative and exciting blend of dance, music, and song. Of all the performances to emerge from Ireland, none have carried the energy, sensuality, and the spectacle of Riverdance.
