About the Common Ground Concert Series

Forged as a partnership between the Columbus Downtown Development Corporation (CDDC) and Columbus Association for the Performing Arts (CAPA), the Common Ground Concert Series is about providing central Ohio with an exciting line-up of free concerts. CDDC and CAPA have a long-standing partnership, and this new annual concert series aims to leverage the two organizations to create a memorable experience for the community. Columbus Commons is the ideal venue for this mission due to its already exceptional lineup of free community events and reputation for hosting a diverse lineup of nationally-recognized touring artists every year.

What time are these concerts?

Gates will open at 6:00 PM. The headliner will take the stage at approximately 8:00 PM. Please note, Columbus Commons will be cleared for a security sweep before gates open, so anyone at Columbus Commons before gates open at 6:00 PM must leave. This means you will not be able to reserve an area of the lawn before 6:00 PM.

Do I need a ticket?

Yes. FREE tickets are required. Tickets are limited in quantity to ensure a safe environment for patrons. Tickets are limited to a quantity of two per email address. Please only reserve the tickets you will use. We expect tickets to go quickly, so mark your calendars.

How do I get tickets?

Columbus Commons newsletter subscribers will be the first to receive early access to tickets on Tuesday, June 25. Click here to sign up today. A limited quantity of remaining tickets will become available on Thursday, June 27, after Columbus Commons newsletter subscribers. When it comes time to order tickets, you will be able to select 1 or 2 tickets.

What do I need to do the day of a ticket release?

  • At 10 AM click https://buff.ly/2NdhT0d
  • Then click on the green 'REGISTER' button.
  • There are no promo codes for this event – tickets will go live exactly at 10 AM!
  • If there are tickets remaining, you will have the chance to claim 1 or 2 (tickets are FREE so no need for a promo code).
  • If you see ‘unavailable’ or ‘sold out’ next to the General Admission tickets, it is either not 10 AM yet or no tickets remain for that day.
  • If tickets are sold out, try again on your next chance – Thursdays at 10 AM from July 11 through August 1 at 10 AM.

I tried to claim my early-release tickets via the newsletter link but Eventbrite was asking for a promo code; was there a promo code needed to claim tickets?

As a Columbus Commons newsletter subscriber, you received exclusive access to a limited quantity of tickets at 10:00 AM on June 25. No promo code was required, but tickets went live at 10:00 AM. Eventbrite did have a field available requesting a promotional code prior to tickets being available at 10:00 AM, but no promo code was needed to claim tickets at 10:00 AM. No tickets were claimed before 10:00 AM. We apologize for the confusion and will work with Eventbrite to troubleshoot the issue for future free-ticket release dates. Because of the incredible demand for these tickets, they were all claimed by 10:02 AM. However, we are happy to say there are multiple opportunities to claim tickets in the weeks leading up to the concert!

Just like the last batch of tickets released, we expect these to go fast. Mark your calendars for your chance to claim free tickets while supplies last:

I have my tickets; do I need to print them?

Printed tickets are preferred.

Does a ticket guarantee entry into these concerts?

A ticket does not guarantee entry. The best way to ensure entry is to arrive early. Safety of our patrons is our top priority. It is possible that due to safety concerns, access to the park may be restricted, even preventing some guests with tickets from entering the concert. Columbus Commons staff will work with public safety officials to ensure safe conditions are maintained, and guests with tickets will be allowed in when conditions become safe once again.

What if I don’t get a ticket? What can I do?

Look on this page for your opportunity to claim tickets.

Tickets are limited and will be claimed quickly. If all tickets are claimed, we cannot guarantee any accommodations for day-of walk-ups due to crowd capacity. However, as we draw closer to the event date, additional tickets may be released on our website, social media channels or media partners. Follow us @columbuscommons on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

I have claimed tickets but no longer need them. Can I return them?

Yes! Simply open your ticket email from Eventbrite, click "manage my order," then "cancel my order." This will open up a spot for someone else who is waiting for tickets.

Where should I park?

Parking for Columbus Commons events is easy and convenient! The most convenient garage is the Columbus Commons Main Garage located at 55 E. Rich Street. You can even prepay for parking on this page! If you park at the Main Garage at 55 E. Rich Street, you’ll be closest to the park entrance. Parking rates will be $5 per vehicle, and cash and credit card will be accepted upon entering the garage. If you’re taking Uber or Lyft, the ideal drop-off zone address is 54 E. Rich Street, which will place you near the concert entrance. The Columbus Commons Underground Garage will not be available for general admission event parking.

How early can I arrive prior to gates opening?

We know fans are excited for this show and might want to arrive early to try and claim a space close to the stage; however, the park will be closed to the public starting at 3:00 PM. If you arrive before 3:00 PM, Columbus Commons security will ask patrons to exit the park. Security personnel will permit lines to begin forming on the sidewalk of E. Rich Street beginning at 3:00 PM, so we kindly ask that you do not arrive to Columbus Commons any earlier than 3:00 PM. Gates will open at 6:00 PM.

What happens if it rains?

You are permitted to bring in a personal handheld umbrella. The concert will proceed rain or shine, though severe weather may postpone or cancel the event.

What food and beverages options will be available?

Columbus Commons’ two cafes, Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams and Taquero Mad Street Food, will be open, along with some of our favorite food trucks. At the bars, you will be able to purchase a selection of Pepsi products, water, beer, wine and a specialty cocktail. Cash and card will be accepted.

Can I bring outside food/beverages into Columbus Commons?

Yes, however coolers and outside alcoholic beverages are not permitted. Bars and multiple food vendors are on site for the duration of the concert. Bags are subject to inspection and prohibited items will not be allowed in and are subject to removal once in the park.

I am in a wheelchair or have accessibility needs. Where can I sit?

Due to limited space, dogs other than service animals are not permitted for these concerts.
