Hedren stars as the titular career thief who is blackmailed into marriage by a wealthy businessman played by Connery. He is aware of her history of assuming a false identity, getting hired, then robbing a company and disappearing, but is intrigued by her, allowing her to get hired at his company. After she robs the safe, he confronts her but also vows to find out what trauma has led her down this path. Initially dismissed, the film is now reappraised as one of Hitchcock’s most complex thrillers. 35 mm
