An evening rich with classical and contemporary influences—Mark Kosower, principal cellist of The Cleveland Orchestra, performs Friedrich Gulda’s genre-defying Concerto for Cello and Wind Orchestra, fusing classical tradition with jazz and rock flair. William Grant Still’s imaginative The East opens the program, and Mozart’s youthful Symphony No. 2 is paired with one of his most famous works, the lively and lyrical Symphony No. 35 “Haffner.”
