Volunteer

More than 700 volunteers help CAPA fulfill its mission each year, and there are plenty of opportunities for you to become part of the excitement!

Our volunteers play a very important role in our theatres and in our community. Help us ensure that CAPA patrons have a great experience each and every time they visit one of our theatres.

COVID-19 Health and Safety Notice: Proof of vaccination is no longer required for new or returning volunteers. Current volunteers that are not vaccinated are no longer subject to testing protocols. Individual performances/events may require stricter guidelines than those implemented by CAPA. CAPA intends to work with each presenter/producer to accommodate their reasonable requests. If a show requires vax/testing, the same standards will be applied to event staff and volunteers. Volunteers understand that in some cases policy may require staff to wear a mask or be prohibited from entering some areas of the theatre, especially for those that are not vaccinated.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

How do I become a CAPA Volunteer?

  1. Fill out our online application (currently closed; please check back in spring 2024).
  2. Attend our mandatory interview and orientation sessions.
  3. Sign up for available events!

What volunteer opportunities are available at CAPA?

We are always looking for volunteers to help ensure that CAPA patrons have a great experience with each visit to our theatres. Volunteer duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Greeters
  • Ticket Scanners
  • Ushers
  • Concessions

Please be advised that all new volunteers must be able to walk up and down stairs without a handrail.

Can I volunteer as a minor?

Volunteers must be at least 16 years or older. Minors must have permission from a parent or guardian. Concessions volunteers must be at least 21 years old.

How much am I expected to volunteer?

Currently, our usher requirements are two shows per month, or 24 a season. Each volunteer shift is about 4 hours long. Many volunteers knock out their monthly commitment in just one day by working a matinee and evening performance!

Do you have other volunteer opportunities that help with production?

We do not currently offer any back of the house volunteer opportunities.

What are some of the benefits of being a CAPA volunteer?

  • Free parking!
  • A chance to see a wide variety of events
  • Giving back to your community
  • Supporting central Ohio's historic theatres
  • Meeting new friends
  • Supporting the arts in Columbus
