The Palace Theatre is Turning 100

Designed in the spirit of France’s Palais de Versailles, and boasting 2,695 seats, the Palace Theatre is one of the country’s most stunning and historic theatres. Born as a vaudeville house, the Palace was the most active venue in Columbus for live performances for decades. Still popular today, the theatre rarely has a dark night. Among the many events hosted by the Palace each year are performances from CAPA-presented and touring musical artists, comedians, and dance companies, Broadway in Columbus, and local arts organizations.

Explore The Palace Theatre Archival Collection

CAPA has partnered with our friends at the Columbus Metropolitan Libraries to create an archival collection for each of the three theatres celebrating their one-hundredth anniversaries between 2026 -2028, beginning with the Palace Theatre. We invite you to browse the Palace archives here.

Share Your Own Palace Story

It all begins at the Palace in 2026 with shared stories of first dates, that amazing concert or beloved musical, or any of the thousands of other thrilling performances that have transformed even more lives. We’d love to hear your story too.

The Soundtrack of a Century

For 100 years, the Palace Theatre has welcomed an extraordinary range of artists to its stage: from big band legends and timeless vocalists to folk, soul, jazz and pop icons.

We’ve brought some of those voices together in a playlist celebrating the music and artists that have helped shape the Palace’s story. Every artist featured has performed on this stage.

A century of spectacle, told through music.

Brought to the Stage by CAPA for You.

Since its founding in 1969, the Columbus Association for the Performing Arts has maintained, managed and booked our constellation of historic theatres.
From 2026-2028 CAPA will showcase a series of signature performances and community events celebrating each theatre’s 100th anniversary. Join us, won’t you?

We are dedicated to making the performing arts accessible to all residents of central Ohio and beyond. It is important to us that all members of our community know they are welcome in our theatres and audiences. To do this, we rely upon your support.
