Description

75TH ANNIVERSARY!

Paris, and music by the Gershwins, set a lush stage for romance and art with Gene Kelly and Leslie Caron. Kelly is the American in Paris, trying to earn his way as a street artist without much success until socialite Milo Roberts (Nina Foch) sets him up as her “protege.” The arrangement is complicated when Jerry falls for Lise Bouvier (Leslie Caron), a dancer engaged to Henri Baurel (Georges Guetary), a cabaret singer who protected Lise and her family during the war. For Lise, the engagement is more gratitude than love, and when Henri wants to marry her before going on tour to America, she must choose between loyalty and her newfound feelings for Jerry. Set to a soundtrack with Gershwin standards like “Our Love is Here to Stay” and “I Got Rhythm,” and the show stopping 16-minute ballet number, An American in Paris takes audiences on a sonic and visual tour of the city of love that won’t soon be forgotten.

Cast: Gene Kelly, Leslie Caron, Oscar Levant
