Lost heirs, ransoms paid in diamonds, and a grifting “psychic” are entangled in a race for a wealthy older woman’s money in Alfred Hitchcock’s Family Plot, celebrating its 50th anniversary. Julia Rainbird (Cathleen Nesbitt) is plagued with guilt over forcing her sister to give up an illegitimate child years before, but to protect the family name, she hires her psychic Blanche (Barbara Harris) instead of an investigator to find her lost nephew so she can name him in the will and right her wrongs. Blanche, who runs her psychic scam with information gathered by her boyfriend George (Bruce Dean) follows the clues to Arthur Adamson (William Devane). Adamson is a long way from an abandoned child, using his jewelry store as a front for a kidnapping operation, demanding diamonds as ransom. Blanche and George soon realize they are in too deep as Arthur escalates his plans to murder.
