Forbidden Planet (1956)

In the 23rd century, humans have harnessed traveling over light years, and one such mission is enroute to the Forbidden Planet to discover the fate of another mission 20 years earlier. They find the last surviving member of the crew, Morbius (Walter Pigeon) and his daughter Altaira (Anne Francis), who was born on the planet shortly before her mother died. Morbius has been studying the former civilization of the planet with his powerful assistant, Robby the Robot, but in doing so has unleashed an invisible threat that is now advancing toward the ship and its crew. As Commander J.J. Adams (Leslie Nielsen) attempts to convince Morbius and Altaira to leave the planet with them, it becomes more clear that Morbius is somehow controlling the thing attacking them, and they must chose between unlocking the secrets of the planet or abandoning it all in a daring escape.
