SILENT FILM!

SERIES PREMIERE!

Now celebrating his 34th year as featured organist for the CAPA Summer Movie Series, Clark Wilson will again provide musical accompaniment for this year’s silent film at the keyboards and controls of the Ohio Theatre’s treasured “Mighty Morton” theatre organ presented by Ice Miller. A touring performer, recording artist, and renowned expert on the scoring of silent films, Wilson was called a “master of silent film and showman of the first order” by film critic/historian Leonard Maltin.

About the film: “America’s Sweetheart” Mary Pickford met her real-life husband Buddy Rogers when they starred together in My Best Girl, the charming tale of a work romance between stock girl Maggie Johnson and stockboy-turned-manager, Joe Grant. What Maggie doesn’t know is Joe is actually Joseph Merrill, the store owner’s son, who is trying to prove he can get along without his father’s help. Also complicating their budding relationship is Maggie’s chaotic family, including a sister who is finding trouble with her bad news boyfriend and an overdramatic mother. There is also the small matter of Joe’s arranged marriage that he doesn’t actually know about yet. All of the problems collide on one eventful night, and the young lovers are tested once more before they can finally sail off for romance.

Cast: Mary Pickford, Charles “Buddy” Rogers, Sunshine Hart
