Description

Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck are as charming as the city they explore in Roman Holiday. Exhausted from the pressure of a European goodwill tour, Princess Ann sneaks out of her room to see Rome on her own. After the sedative her doctor gave her inconveniently kicks in, she falls asleep on a park bench and is found by Joe Bradley, an American reporter. He takes her to his apartment to sleep it off after Ann refuses to tell him where she lives. In the morning he leaves her sleeping to go to work, only to find that his houseguest is the Princess, who, according to the official statement is “ill” and unable to make her engagements in the city, including a press conference that Joe was supposed to cover. Joe bets his editor he can get an exclusive interview and enlists his photographer friend Irving (Eddie Albert) to document the day. He takes Ann on a whirlwind sightseeing tour, but as the day progresses, she becomes less of a story and more of a love interest. Still believing her identity safe, Princess Ann sadly leaves Joe to return to her embassy, only to see him the next day at the rescheduled press conference when they are able to quietly say goodbye.

Cast: Audrey Hepburn, Gregory Peck, Eddie Albert
