The French Connection (1971)

Based on an actual case, this Oscar winner follows Popeye Doyle and Buddy Russo, two NYPD cops who uncover a massive trans-Atlantic drug operation. When they tail two suspects from a bar to their candy store, they find it’s a front for a heroin pipeline for French gangster Charnier. Despite obstacles from the higher ups, federal agents, and the network of criminals, they keep following the trail of money, drugs, and bodies, plus a chase that includes one of film’s greatest car chase scene.
